After leaving the family business Mala co-founded adult care home company, Clearwater Care. Inspired by her entrepreneurial mother, Mala took a hands-on strategy in all areas of the management of the business expanding her knowledge and experience for six years before selling the business and co-creating a successful online luggage business. In 2014, Mala founded Athena Care Homes. Adopting an acquisition-based expansion model, Athena Care Homes grew to five homes in five years, transforming ratings. With a head office in Laindon, Essex, Athena is now a strong regional care provider in East England with 720 staff and 585 beds.
